GameStacker Update: Sound On & Major Fixes!

Version 0.2.0 is here with UI sound effects, automatic Steam account switching, faster navigation, and critical bug fixes for a smoother beta experience.

We've just opened the doors to the GameStacker Public Beta, and in our commitment to making a great first impression, we're immediately releasing our first major update.

After the initial package went live, we identified some critical rough edges that we wanted to smooth out right away. We want to ensure that the first people to try GameStacker get the best possible experience. Today's version 0.2.0 addresses these issues and even pulls forward some highly anticipated features from our roadmap.

🔊 First on the Hit List: UI Sounds are Live!

A great console experience needs satisfying audio feedback. It was our top priority to implement UI sound effects, addressing one of the known issues from our initial beta announcement. This makes the entire dashboard feel more responsive and alive.

We designed the system to be smart from the start: sounds won't play for disabled buttons, they will play in the virtual keyboard, and they automatically go silent the moment you launch a game, ensuring nothing interrupts your immersion.

🎮 A More Seamless Experience

We’re focused on removing small annoyances to make your life easier. This update brings two huge quality-of-life improvements:

  • Automatic Steam Account Switching: No more manual logins! If you have different GameStacker profiles linked to different Steam accounts, GameStacker will now automatically log you into the correct Steam account before launching a game, fixing a known issue from the first beta.
  • Faster Navigation: Getting through a huge library is now a breeze. You can hold down the D-pad to scroll quickly through lists, a feature that was missing in the first release. Plus, you can now use the shoulder buttons (LB/RB) to jump between sections and menus instantly.

⚙️ Bug Squashing & Stability

This update also crushes some significant bugs from the initial build:

  • Controller Input Fixed: The annoying bug where controller or keyboard input would stop working after using the virtual keyboard is gone, resolving a known issue from the beta launch.
  • Startup & Antivirus: We’ve fixed a critical issue that could prevent the app from starting correctly after its first run. We also made some changes under the hood to reduce the chances of it being flagged by antivirus software like Windows Defender.

This is our first step in building the ultimate gaming dashboard with transparency and quality in mind. We're excited for you to try it out and let us know what you think!
