Just a short while after launching our Public Beta, we're back with our next major leap toward delivering a true console experience on your PC. Today's update, version 0.3.0, introduces the Guide, an in-game overlay that acts as your command center, putting essential features just a button press away.
🚀 Introducing the Guide: Never Leave Your Game Again
You know that magic button on your controller? The one that brings up a quick menu without interrupting your game? Now, GameStacker has one too. Simply press the Guide button on your controller (e.g., the Xbox button) to bring up the overlay, even while you're in the middle of a game!
From the Guide, you can:
- View Achievements: Quickly check your progress on that tricky achievement you're hunting.
- Control Your Music: Play, pause, or skip tracks from apps like Spotify or YouTube without alt-tabbing. The Guide displays the current track info and gives you full control.
- Manage Your Session: Easily leave the current game, access system settings, turn off your device, or exit GameStacker entirely.
This is a foundational piece of the console experience, and we're thrilled to bring it to GameStacker.
A Quick Note on Compatibility: For the best experience, we recommend running your games in borderless fullscreen or windowed mode. The Guide overlay may not work correctly with games in exclusive fullscreen mode, as they take full control of the display. Thankfully, most modern games offer a borderless option!
🎮 Quality of Life Improvements
But the Guide isn't the only improvement in this update. We've also been listening to your feedback and focused on polishing the core experience.
- Navigate with your Analog Stick: You can now use the left analog stick to navigate the entire GameStacker interface. It's a small change that makes everything feel much more fluid and natural.
- Jump Straight In (No More Clicks!): We've squashed that annoying bug where you had to click the window after startup to get your controller working. Now, GameStacker has focus right from the start.
This update is a direct result of your early feedback and our vision for what GameStacker can be. Thank you for being a part of this journey.
